"LOEWE began as a cooperative of leather artisans in the centre of Madrid in 1846. It is one of the worlds oldest major luxury houses. By 1910, Loewe had acquired a reputation as the most luxurious leather goods supplier in the city and began expansion over the Spanish territory. In 1934 Enrique Loewe Knappe took over the company and there followed a succession of store openings and expansions.

The frames contain quality features which combine the leading edge of technology and craftsmanship. Automatic processes are only used where necessary in order to order precision measurement. A complex process using precious metal coatings, such palladium, platinum and 22kt gold plated in strategic coats of differing thicknesses achieve a high gold plate (HGP) Turing these frames into a jewel.
By the end of the 60s Loewe was beginning to expand internationally. Fans of the brand included Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren and Ernest Hemingway.
